Red Cross Efforts

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE -- Due to the "extraordinary generosity of the
public," the American Red Cross says it has received sufficient
donations to cover the cost of its response to the Angora fire, which
forced thousands to evacuate.

The Red Cross reports that donations and pledges will cover the estimated $395,000 cost for the agency's response to the fire.

That
doesn't mean, however, that donors should not make good on the pledges
they have made, according to Diane Thomas, a Red Cross fundraising
manager.

"Many donations ... have been incorporated into funds available for
the relief effort," Thomas said. "It is important for supporters to
fulfill their gifts so we can fulfill our commitments to the South Lake
Tahoe community."
